Tunisia Infrastructure & Renewable Energy Investment Conference

Tunis - Tunisia Infrastructure & Renewable Energy Investment Conference

We are pleased to announce that Euroconvention Global will host the upcoming Tunisia Renewable Energy & Power Infrastructure Investment Conference, scheduled to take place in Tunis on 15 December 2016. Kindly note that IFC/World Bank will be the Institutional Partner of the conference.

This conference will gather project developers, investors, IFIs, government representatives, engineering, consulting, banking and legal entities to discuss further private investments into the Tunisian power infrastructure and renewable energy markets. Partnerships, new technology and financing of this sector will be at center focus as well.Tunisia has taken several positive actions toward increasing energy autonomy and promoting renewable energies. The Parliament passed last year the New Law on electricity production from renewable sources. This legislation updates Tunisia prior regulatory framework governing renewable markets. It aims to boost private sector investments and liberalize regulations to facilitate the production, network access and export of electricity generated by renewables. It also aims to help Tunisia to achieve the core goals of the Tunisia Solar Plan.

Tunisia has indeed a significant wind and solar energy potential. Currently, only 3% of the grid-connected generation capacity is attributable to renewable energies and it is produced by the Tunisia National Electricity and Gas Utility (STEG). Thanks to the support of several international development agencies and financial institutions, the government of Tunisia has now put in place various programs to support private sector investment.
